I really like how easily this class came be applied to the “real world.” It was nice to see that my fear os a boring desk job doesn’t have to come true. However it also did show me that way too much of my life is influenced by the media, unknown to me. I really like the setup of the classes room and how there were many open discussions. I like how the test were setup online so that I could work them into my schedule and work on it when I could. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this course and will most likely take more PR classes. I also liked the speakers and for the most part the information and knowledge that i could gain from them, about the current work force. The group activities are always nice to have because its easier than doing all the work yourself. and you get to meet other people in your class, which in a way is PR itself.
I was on a trip in high school with the technology club when I saw the Daft Punk album Aerodynamic. Over the past previous months I had begun to listen to internet radio especially the house station. This is where I heard of Daft Punk for the first time and I loved it but at the time I had only heard one song Aerodynamic a few times. So on the trip we stopped at a mall and
I came across the album, Aerodynamic. Almost the whole 3 hour roundtrip I listened to that one song aerodynamic over and over again. I loved it I almost couldn’t get enough of it. Then I proceeded to listen to that album non-stop for a few months. To this day I still love this duo and I still listen to that album that I discovered so long ago.
I remember when shows like survivor, big brother and real world were either beginning or only in their 3rd or 4th season. I dk if it was just because I was younger or the fact that TV had not started to script “reality.” But i felt as though I was watching something real, especially with real world with i was a young teenager i thought that there were moments that were real and even contained some wisdom. Now with such shows as Laguna Beach and The Hills. Its total bullshit and it almost painful to watch because honestly I don’t get a rats ass what happens in their life. They have had it easy their whole life, I doubt there is anything they can teach me and instead of being entertaining it’s just annoying. At first it was like a myth that reality tv was scripted but now its known, and yet they still bring in millions of viewers. I will admit if there is nothing on tv ill prolly end up watching some dumb TV show. but i sure as hell wont become a fan. But my first memory of reality TV is when the house mates of real world Hawaii met and that was the good ol days of TV. Today it seems that reality tv is not reality at all just an excuse to air a poorly written show with poor actors.
This year spring break was a very relaxing week for me. I planned to pretty much so nothing and that’s what i pretty much did. Just drank, ate, and rode my bike all over savannah. I stayed with a friend so I always had someone to hang out with. I love food! and i tried all the local resturants I could, and it was great. I did the whole st. patricks day think. saw a couple bands play. it was very relaxing and it is always nice to get to be with friends. However there is a small part of me that missed the crazy week i have had before.
I have always watched them since i was a kid and they were held in Atlanta and Micheal Johnson had those gold shoes. Which makes me think why did i watch them from my living when i only lived 3 hrs away from them. When i look bad i would have given anything to be in attendance, but i surely wouldnt have respected that experience till much later. I was watching when Phelps won his medals and I felt that joy and pride for him. It is a very powerful thing to watch someone claim that spot of #1 in the world. It’s what they work to hard to attain and reaching that is a feeling I hope I can feel one day. I love the olympics and hopefully one day i can go see them with my own 2 eyes. Such movements as this years Shawn White where he already wont he gold and asked “should i go down the middle” his coach responded “Fuck no.” That is a timeless quote to me it has such feeling involved in it. To watch White not only do the move everyone was waiting for a double mctwist which is something like 2 flips with 2 rotations. was great it was the icing on the cake and it wasnt done to show out, but to say hey i got this, and the fans wanna see it. love it.
Most people who look at this photo have no idea what that metal basket is. When the disc golf course was put into the EGC campus, a lot of the students thought there were deer feeders. But that is not the case, it is the basket for a sport called disc golf. The rules are very similar to regular ball golf, expect hitting a ball in a hole; you are throwing a disc in a basket. The disc golf discs aren’t like the regular frisbee you are used to throwing to your buddies. They range in weight from 130-200 grams, this is also the legal limit according to the Professional Disc Golf Association. They are also smaller in diameter, with thousands of different designs. All of them designed to do different things, it all depends on the rim, or the aerofoil. The sport has been around since the 60’s and is probably the fastest growing sport currently. It also seems that most people never have heard of it, then once they do, they see it all around them. I try to play at least one round a week. I am currently on the GSU disc golf team, i am currently preparing for the National Collegiate Disc Golf tourney. It will be held in Augusta, Ga, last year many schools came from all over the USA, even all the way from Oregon. So, needless to say i enjoy the sport very much, and i try to get people to go and play. It is a lot of fun and when you start throwing you just want to keep throwing. The sport is fairly inexpensive, you can get a set of discs from around 20$. The discs are separate into three categories; putters, mid-ranges, and drivers. There will be a disc golf clinic at Mill Creek in Statesboro this weekend. So i encourage you to come out, throw some discs and see what you think. I assure you, you will have fun.
A cell phone is what keeps me in contact with those that I cannot see daily. I could easily live without it, but it would be like going back in time. Why would I want to live in an where it could take days to send a simple message across a short distance. Information moves faster than ever today, cell phones are a huge cause to that. I can send a text to a friend across the US and get a reply back in seconds. It a great way to stay in contact with those that you don’t have physical contact with everyday. So I could easily live with out a cell phone, but again why would I want to?
